SAIL commissions rebuilt coke oven battery No. 2 at Durgapur plant

Indian state-owned steelmaker Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced that the newly rebuilt coke oven battery No. 2 at its Durgapur steel plant has been commissioned. The rebuilding of the battery is a part of the modernization and expansion of SAIL DSP under its ongoing capacity enhancement from the current 1.60 million mt of saleable steel to 2.12 million mt.
 
Additionally, a one million mt medium structural mill and a 750,000 mt bloom caster are being built at the Durgapur Steel. Both projects are continuing according to schedule.
