Saarstahl starts operations at its modernized wire rod mill

Germany-based plantmaker SMS Group has announced that German long steel producer Saarstahl has successfully started production operations at its high-speed wire rod mill, located in Burbach, Germany, modernized by SMS Group. The modernization works included the expansion of the one-strand roughing mill of the company's four-strand wire rod mill to enhance the rolling conditions and secure competitiveness in the long term. 
 
Saarstahl’s chief technology officer (CTO) Martin Baues stated that, due to the modernization, the high quality of Saarstahl’s products and the plant availability of its high-performance train have improved and the company is able to react to individual needs of the customers even faster and more flexible.
