S. Korea’s steel imports from China accelerate

South Korea's Iron and Steel Association (KISA) disclosed that South Korea's steel imports from China rose 79.1 percent year on year to 5.76 million tons in the first ten months of 2005. KISA indicates that South Korea's steel imports from China are expected to surpass exports for the first time this year. On the other hand, South Korea's steel exports to China fell 5.2 percent year on year to 3.97 million tons during January-October 2005 period. In 2004, South Korea's steel exports to China amounted to 4.97 million tons, slightly more than 4.33 million tons of steel products imported from the country.
