S. Korea’s auto sales to hit record in 2005

South Korea's worldwide auto sales are expected to exceed 5 million units for the first time in 2005 due to the rising exports. Data provided from Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Motors Corporation, GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Company, Renault Samsung Motors Company and Ssangyong Motor Company show that the five domestic automakers had combined overseas and domestic sales of 4.7 million units in the first eleven months of 2005. South Korea's automotive exports rose 20 percent year on year to 3.7 million units in the first ten months of 2005. Separately, sales of foreign cars in South Korea jumped 30 percent year on year to 27'090 units during the same period.
