Finnish steelmaker Ruukki has announced that it will invest in a new paint shop and a packaging-dispatch department at the company's Jászberény plant in Hungary to serve engineering customers. The plant makes booms, heavy frames and other welded components for the lifting, handling and transportation equipment industry and for equipment manufacturers in the energy industry.

According to a company press release, coating capacity at Jászberény will double and the new facility will be able to process larger components, weighing up to 50 mt, after the investment. Solvent- and water-borne coating systems will be available in the new coating facility.

Ruukki's new paint shop will be commissioned in the autumn of 2010 and the investment will cost around €5 million. The modern technology to be used in the project will ensure high quality and will meet the high environmental and quality requirements of customers and the authorities alike.
