Ruukki to be steel structure contractor for Sweden’s Sandvik Materials

On May 6, Finnish steelmaker Ruukki announced that it has been chosen as the steel structure contractor for an extensive production facility for Swedish producer of high technology stainless steels, special alloy materials, Sandvik Materials Technology. Ruukki will deliver frame and envelope structures, including on-site installation, for a 12,000 square meter, 300 metre-long production facility. The contract also includes the design, including fabrication drawings, for the roof trusses and envelope structures.
 
The structures for Sandvik's new facility will be manufactured at Ruukki's plants in Ylivieska, Peräseinäjoki and Alajärvi in Finland, at Oborniki, Poland and at Anderslöv, Sweden. Ruukki's work on the project is scheduled for May to October and the facility is expected to begin operating in 2012.
