Russia’s stainless flat steel imports down 16.2 percent in H1

Russian imports of stainless steel flat products with width of more than 600 mm in first six month of the current year decreased by 16.2 percent year on year to 66,542 mt, according to Russia-based SpetsStal Association. 

In the first half, hot rolled and cold rolled products accounted for 19.3 percent and 80.7 percent of the total imports respectively. 

In the first half of the year, the leading suppliers of stainless steel flat products with width of more than 600 mm to Russia were China with 23.7 percent of the total volume of imports, Taiwan with a 22.6 percent share, South Africa with 12.6 percent, Finland with 7.2 percent and Spain with a 6.3 percent share.

In the given period, China’s stainless flat steel supplies to Russia rose by 91.8 percent to 15,760 mt, supplies from Finland increased by 11.4 percent to 4,800 mt, and Spain increased its deliveries by 5.6 percent to 4,184 mt, all year on year. Supplies from Taiwan and South Africa decreased by 19.1 percent and 20.2 percent to 15,061 mt and 8,361 mt, respectively, year on year.
