Russia’s crude steel output down 0.7 percent in January-July

Russia's crude steel production in the first seven months of this year amounted to 40.9 million mt, down 0.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, according to Russia's Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
 
In addition, Russian finished steel output in the given period went down by 0.8 percent to 35.2 million mt, while production of pig iron went up by 5.3 percent to 31 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.
 
In the January-July period of the current year, Russia saw an 8.3 percent increase in its steel pipe production to 6.6 million mt. In July alone, Russian pipe production increased by 0.7 percent year on year and by 1.3 percent compared to the previous month.
 
The country's production of coal increased by 5.6 percent month on month and by 4.8 percent year on year to 205 million mt during July. Iron ore production in the given month rose by 16.1 percent month on month and by 4.5 percent year on year to 42.2 million mt.
