Russia’s stainless steel imports up 36.2 percent in January

Russian imports of stainless steel products in January this year increased by 36.2 percent year on year to 14,741 mt, according to Russia-based SpetsStal Association. 
 
Meanwhile, in January Russia’s flat rolled stainless steel imports increased by 48.9 percent, its stainless steel seamless pipe imports rose by 17.4 percent, while electric welded stainless steel pipe imports expanded by 3.2 percent, stainless steel billet imports moved up by 66.7 percent, and stainless steel pipe fittings imports increased by 142.3 percent, all year-on-year. In the same month, Russia’s stainless steel wire rod imports rose by 183.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In January, only stainless steel long product imports indicated a decrease, declining by 22.5 percent year on year.
