Russia's stainless steel imports up 0.7 percent in 2014

Russian imports of stainless steel products in 2014 increased by 0.7 percent year on year to 253,389 mt, according to Russia-based SpetsStal Association.

In 2014, imports of stainless flat steel products increased by 5.6 percent to 190,418 mt, imports of long stainless steel products rose by 10.6 percent to 29,075 mt and imports of stainless wire went up by 20.1 percent to 4,418 mt, all compared to 2013.

In the given year, Russian imports of stainless steel seamless pipes decreased by 36 percent to 14,090 mt, ERW stainless steel pipe imports moved down by 18.8 percent to 12,508 mt, and imports of stainless slabs and ingots declined by 26.7 percent to 2,880 mt, all year-on-year basis.
