Russia’s stainless steel consumption down 2.7 percent in Jan-Sept

According to Russia-based SpetsStal Association, in the first nine months of this year Russia's consumption of the main stainless steel products decreased by 2.7 percent year on year, amounting to 286,700 mt.

In the given period, domestic stainless steel output declined by 19.8 percent to 103,190 mt, stainless steel exports decreased by 65.3 percent to 6,920 mt, while stainless steel imports rose by 2.3 percent to 190,520 mt, all year on year.

The share of stainless steel imports in Russia's overall stainless steel consumption in the January-September period this year increased to 66.4 percent, compared to a 63.1 percent share in the same period of last year.
