Russia’s crude steel output up 3.5 percent in first quarter

According to the State Statistics Committee of Russia (Russtat), in the first quarter of the current year Russia produced 17.8 million of crude steel, up 3.5 percent compared to the same period of 2014. Crude steel production in March decreased by 1.1 percent year on year, while rising 6.2 percent compared to February.

In the first three months, Russia's rolled steel product output amounted to 15.3 million mt, up 4.3 percent year on year. In March alone, production of rolled steel products in Russia decreased by one percent year on year, but increased by 5.2 percent compared to the previous month. On the other hand, production of steel pipes in Russia in the January-March period increased by 18.1 percent year on year to 2.8 million mt.
