One of the largest Russian pipe producers, ChTPZ Group, which consists of Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) and Pervouralsky Novotrubny Works (PNTZ), has announced that in the first five months of 2010 it registered a 35 percent increase year on year in its pipe deliveries to 595,500 metric tons.
The year-on-year increase in ChTPZ Group's pipe shipments was due to the stabilization of the economic situation in Russia and to Transneft's construction of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean-2 and Baltic Pipeline System-2 oil pipelines, for which ChTPZ Group delivered respectively 50,800 mt and 13,800 mt of large diameter pipes in January-May this year.
In particular, during the first five months of this year, the pipe deliveries of ChTPZ amounted to 325,800 mt - up 43 percent year on year, including 228,800 mt of large diameter pipes - up 66 percent year on year. In May 2010, ChTPZ saw a 67 percent increase year on year in its pipe shipments to 58,200 mt, including 43,000 mt of large diameter pipes - up 68.6 percent year on year.
On the other hand, PNTZ's pipe deliveries in January-May amounted to 269,700 mt - up 26 percent compared to the same period last year. In May this year, PNTZ shipped 63,100 mt of pipes, registering an increase of 47 percent year on year.
