One of the largest Russian pipe producers, ChTPZ Group, which consists of Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) and Pervouralsky Novotrubny Works (PNTZ), has announced that in the first four months of 2010 it registered a 31 percent increase year on year in its pipe deliveries to 474,200 metric tons.
The year-on-year increase in ChTPZ Group's pipe shipments was due the stabilization of the economic situation in Russia and to Transneft's construction of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean-2 and Baltic Pipeline System-2 oil pipelines, for which ChTPZ Group delivered respectively 46,800 mt and 10,000 mt of large diameter pipes in January-April this year.
In particular, during the first four months of this year, the pipe deliveries of ChTPZ amounted to 267,600 mt - up 39 percent year on year, including 185,700 mt of large diameter pipes - up 65 percent year on year. In April 2010, ChTPZ saw a 67 percent increase year on year in its pipe shipments to 76,600 mt, including 54,200 mt of large diameter pipes - up 124 percent year on year.
On the other hand, PNTZ's pipe deliveries in January-April 2010 amounted to 206,600 mt - up 21 percent compared to the same period last year. In April this year, PNTZ shipped 60,800 mt of pipes, registering an increase of 17 percent year on year.
