One of the largest Russian pipe producers, ChTPZ Group, which consists of Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) and Pervouralsky Novotrubny Works (PNTZ), has announced that in the first two months of 2010 it registered a 33 percent increase year on year in its pipe deliveries to 208,200 metric tons.
The year-on-year increase in the group's pipe shipments was due to the general improvement of the pipe market and to the start of such big projects as Baltic Pipeline System-2, East Siberia-Pacific Ocean-2, and Russky Island, for which in the first two months of the current year ChTPZ Group delivered 4,200 mt, 17,300 mt and 6,900 mt of large diameter pipes respectively.
In particular, in January-February this year, the pipe deliveries of ChTPZ amounted to 114,500 mt - up 25 percent year on year, including 78,400 mt of large diameter pipes - up 31 percent year on year. In February 2010, ChTPZ shipped 61,800 mt of pipes, including 42,700 mt of large diameter pipes.
On the other hand, PNTZ's pipe deliveries in January-February this year amounted to 93,600 mt - up 44 percent compared to the same period last year. In February 2010, PNTZ shipped 50,500 mt of pipes.
