Russkaya Stal (Russian Steel), a non-profit association of Russian domestic steelmakers, has stated that its member companies exported 1.86 million mt of finished steel in August this year, decreasing by 5.6 percent month on month but increasing by 3.6 percent year on year, while their shipments of steel pipes to the export markets totaled 60,000 mt, recording a decrease of 10.3 percent compared to July and decreasing by 44.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
In the January-August period, the companies’ shipments of rolled steel products to the export markets went up by 9.6 percent year on year to 16.7 million mt. Of these exports, the share of semi-finished steel products totalled 49.7 percent (8.3 million mt), indicating an increase of 10.5 percent year on year (790,000 mt). Exports of steel tubes in the given period decreased by 29.4 percent year on year to 500,000 mt.
