Russkaya Stal (Russian Steel), a non-profit association of Russian domestic steelmakers, has reported that its main member enterprises produced 4.7 million mt of finished steel in June this year, down 2.2 percent from May but increasing by 5.5 percent compared to June last year.
Steel pipe production of the member enterprises came to 0.52 million mt in June this year, up 5.65 percent compared to May and rising by 3.6 percent compared to June 2013.
Finished steel production of the member enterprises came to 27.8 million mt in the January-June period this year, up 1.31 percent compared to the same period last year, while pipe output fell by 0.57 percent against the same period of 2013 to 2.8 million mt.
Finished steel shipments of Russian Steel member companies to domestic end-users in June were up by 0.5 percent month on month to 2.87 million mt, while year-on-year figures indicated a 9.1 percent increase. In the first six months of the year, Russian Steel companies shipped 16.1 million mt of finished steel to the local market, up 0.9 percent year on year.
Members of Russian Steel exported 1.83 million mt of finished steel in June, down 6.25 percent compared to May and rising by 0.26 percent compared to June last year. In the January-June period, export shipments amounted to 11.7 million mt, up 1.92 percent year on year.
