According to the data issued by Russian Railways (RZhD), in the first four months of 2010 steel product shipments on Russia's railways increased by 20.8 percent to 23.7 million mt, shipments of iron and manganese ore went up by 15.6 percent to 32.4 million mt, shipments of ferrous scrap rose by 46.6 percent to 5.2 million mt, while shipments of coke increased by 62.8 percent to 4.2 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
In April this year, as compared to March, steel product shipments increased by 3.6 percent, shipments of ferrous scrap went up by 25.1 percent, shipments of coke rose by 1.9 percent, and iron and manganese ore shipments increased by four percent.
In January-April, Russia's total railway shipments increased by 12.9 percent year on year to 380.3 million mt.
