Russian Railways: Steel product shipments total 47.8 million mt in Jan-Aug

According to preliminary data issued by Russian Railways (RZhD), in the first eight months of 2010 steel product shipments on Russia's railways amounted to 47.8 million mt, shipments of iron ore and manganese ore totaled 67 million mt, while shipments of coke amounted to 8.4 million mt.

In August this year as compared to the same month last year, Russia saw a 10 percent increase in steel product shipments and a 12 percent rise in its ferrous scrap shipments on its railways.

In January-August 2010, total shipments on Russia's railways increased by eleven percent year on year to 793 million mt.
