According to the data released by the Federal Customs Service of Russian Federation, in the first half of 2006,
Russia exported 15.113 million metric tons of ferrous metals (excluding
pig iron, ferroalloys and
scrap), amounting to $6.2 billion; 3.03 million metric tons of
pig iron , amounting to $664.6 million; 317,200 metric tons of ferroalloys, amounting to $508.9 million ; 7.552 million metric tons of semi-finished products from carbon steel, amounting to $2.37 billion; and 4.99 million metric tons of flat rolled from carbon steel, amounting $2.23 billion.
During the given period, the amounts of export beyond the
CIS states were equal to 14.023 million metric tons of ferrous metals (excluding
pig iron, ferroalloys and
scrap), 2.885 million metric tons of
pig iron, 298,600 metric tons of ferroalloys, 7.432 million metric tons of semi-finished products from carbon steel and 4.669 million metric tons of flat rolled from carbon steel.
Data released by the Federal Customs Service of Russian Federation show that, in the first six months of 2006, the country imported 1.73 million metric tons of ferrous metals (excluding
pig iron, ferroalloys and
scrap) for $1.15 billion and 547,400 metric tons of steel pipes for $640.5 million.
The imports from beyond the
CIS equaled to 541,800 metric tons of ferrous metals (excluding
pig iron, ferroalloys and
scrap) for $463.7 million and 162,900 metric tons of steel pipes for $233.6 million.
