In the first eight months of 2007, Russia registered a three percent increase in its crude steel production year on year to 48.3 million metric tons.
In addition, during the period in question, Russia produced 34.3 million metric tons of semi-finished products - up 4.2 percent, 22 million metric tons of long products - up 3.2 percent, and 16.9 million metric tons of flat rolled products - up 1.9 percent, all compared to the corresponding period of last year. The above flat rolled production figure includes 5.5 million metric tons of cold rolled and 11.4 million metric tons of hot rolled, down 3.9 percent and up 4.9 percent respectively year on year.
