In the first four months of 2007, Russia registered a 6.6 percent increase in its crude steel production year on year to 24.4 million metric tons.
In addition, during the period in question, Russia produced 17.3 million metric tons of semi-finished products - up 10.7 percent, 11.3 million metric tons of long products - up 10.3 percent, and 8.3 million metric tons of flat rolled products (including 2.7 million metric tons of cold rolled and 5.6 million metric tons of hot rolled) - up two percent (including a 1.8 percent decrease in cold rolled production but a 3.9 percent increase in hot rolled production) all compared to the corresponding period of last year.
