Russian crude steel output declines in Jan-Nov 2008

In the first eleven months of 2008, Russia registered a 1.4 percent decrease in its crude steel production year on year to 65.2 million metric tons.

During the period in question, Russia produced 46.1 million metric tons of pig iron - down 2.3 percent, 46 million metric tons of semi-finished products - down 1.7 percent, 30.8 million metric tons of long products - up 1.2 percent, and 21.9 million metric tons of flat rolled products - down 5.4 percent, all compared to January-November 2007. The above flat rolled production figure includes 7.3 million metric tons of cold rolled - down 1.3 percent, and 14.6 million metric tons of hot rolled - down 7.4 percent, both compared with the same period last year.
