Russian pig iron and coking coal producer Industrial Metallurgical Holding (KOKS Group) has announced its operational results for the full year of 2016.
Accordingly, IMH (KOKS Group) produced 2.21 million mt of pig iron in 2016, increasing by 7.4 percent year on year, achieving a record-high volume of pig iron produced by blast furnaces No. 2 and No. 3 jointly, since the overhaul of blast furnace No. 1 in September 2008.
In 2016, the company's coal output increased by 16.8 percent compared to the previous year to 2.2 million mt, while its iron ore output amounted to 5.02 million mt, up 1.2 percent year on year. The increase in coal production was achieved due to drilling-and-blasting intensification at the Uchastok Koksovy open pit and the Butovskaya mine through the use of more efficient equipment and modern technologies.
In the given year, the company's coke output increased by 3.6 percent to 2.82 million mt compared to 2015, due to the boost in export sales and favorable market conditions.
