Russia reports decrease in coal mining in May

According to the data released by the Federal State Statistics Service of Russian Federation, the country's coal mining output fell 4.8 percent month on month in May 2006. However, in January-May Russian coal mining output rose 6.6 percent to 130 million tons compared to the same period of last year. Russian production of coking coal decreased 0.6 percent month on month in May 2006. The first five month output figure indicates a 1.8 percent decrease in production of coking coal compared to the same period of last year.
