Russia may halt Ukraine's steel imports

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) has stated that it intends to renew its investigations on the issue of radioactive ferrous metal scrap imports from Ukraine. Meanwhile, in addition to the renewal of investigations, the MEDT has also announced that, based on newly discovered facts, it is to make a decision within a short delay on whether to impose a moratorium on imports of Ukrainian steel products – a move which was suggested by the Russian State Duma Ecological Committee two months ago. Radioactive steel products imported from Ukraine were previously detected on Russian territory in the form of rebar and pipe.
