According to the State Statistics Committee of Russia (Russtat), in the first nine months of the current year Russia registered a three percent decline in its rolled steel product output to 43.3 million mt, a 3.2 percent decrease in its crude steel output to 51.8 million mt and a 0.8 percent decline in its pig iron production to 37.6 million mt, all year on year. In the given period, Russia saw a 5.9 percent increase year on year in its steel pipe production to 7.6 million mt.
In addition, in January-September Russia produced 255 million mt of coal, down 2.5 percent year on year, and 19.5 million mt of metallurgical coke, down 4.1 percent year on year.
