According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal Customs Service, in the first eleven months of 2007 Russia exported 25.026 million metric tons of ferrous metals (excluding pig iron, ferroalloys and scrap) - down 4.3 percent, 5.184 million metric tons of pig iron - down 4.1 percent, 711,800 metric tons of ferroalloys - up eight percent, 13.331 million metric tons of semi-finished steel products - up 0.2 percent, 7.355 million metric tons of flat rolled products - down 10.4 percent, 22.92 million metric tons of iron ore and concentrate - up 15.7 percent, and 2.96 million metric tons of coke and semi-coke - up 197.3 percent, all compared to the first eleven months of 2006.
During the period in question, Russia increased its ferrous metal imports (excluding pig iron, ferroalloys and scrap) by 37.8 percent and its steel pipe imports by 13.1 percent year on year, to 5.56 million metric tons and 1.383 million metric tons respectively.
