Russia issues Jan-Aug output results

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first eight months of 2009 the country registered a 13.5 percent decrease in coal mining output and an 18.3 percent reduction in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 185 million and 59 million.
In addition, during the same period Russia produced 17.3 million metric tons of coke - down 26 percent, 32.4 million metric tons of finished steel products - down 22.9 percent, and four million metric tons of steel pipes - down 28.2 percent, all compared to January-August 2008.
