Russia issues Jan-Apr 2008 production results

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first four months of 2008 the country registered a 6.6 percent rise in coal mining output and a 3.7 percent rise in iron ore mining output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 111 million and 35.3 million.

In addition, during the same period Russia produced 11.7 million metric tons of coke - up 4.6 percent, 21.1 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 5.7 percent, and 2.7 million metric tons of steel pipes - down 6.7 percent, all compared to January-April 2007.
