According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in the first half of this year Russia produced 28.4 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 20.6 percent, 4.3 million metric tons of steel pipes - up 43.1 percent, and 24.2 million mt of pig iron - up 23.2 percent, all compared to H1 2009.
In addition, in the first six months of this year the country registered a 13.4 percent increase in its coal mining output and an 18 percent rise in its iron ore concentrate output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 156 million and 46.3 million. In addition, Russia's metallurgical coke output during the period in question went up by 23.7 percent year on year to 13.6 million metric tons.
Meanwhile, in June this year, Russia's finished steel product output went down by 9.4 percent, its pig iron output decreased by 7.9 percent, while its pipe production increased by 7.6 percent, all compared to May.
In June, Russia's coal output went down by 4.2 percent month on month, its coke production decreased by 8.2 percent, while its iron ore concentrate output rose by 0.4 percent, all compared to May.
