Riversdale Mining, a Sydney, Australia-based coal-miner with assets in Mozambique, has updated its coking coal resource estimate at its Zambeze project.

The total coal resource is now estimated as 9 billion mt, including about 2.3 billion mt of indicated and 6.7 billion mt of inferred resources.

The Zambeze project is Riversdale's second major coal project in the Moatize basin, and is adjacent to the Benga coal project, a joint venture with Tata Steel.

The company said that it is in discussions with various steelmakers from around Europe, Asia and South Africa for sampling of coal and future marketing opportunities.
