In a press conference held on June 28, Australia-based miner Rio Tinto said that there is no sign of iron ore demand weakening and the company is producing as much as possible, with demand being strong in China, as well as in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

Rio Tinto chief executive Tom Albanese said that Rio Tinto iron ore chief executive Sam Walsh is seeking money for the operations in the Pilbara region, indicating that they are not slowing down operations in their iron ore projects in Western Australia.

"We are producing flat out," Mr. Walsh told reporters, adding that there are "healthy queues" at its Western Australian iron ore ports.
