Rig counts for US and Canada on an uptrend

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending August 15 the US rig count increased by five to 1,913, following a 19-rig increase the week before. The rig count is still up by 122from 1,791 rigs during the same week a year ago. The gas rig count increased by five to 321, whereas the oil rig count increased by one to 1,589.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 14 in the week ending August 15 to reach 401 following a five-rig decrease the previous week. The Canadian rig count is now up 43 from 358 rigs during the same week a year ago.
