Lexington, Kentucky-based Rhino Resource Partners LP announced Tuesday that it has acquired approximately 32,600 acres (131,927,519 square meters) of metallurgical coal resources in Randolph and Upshur Counties in West Virginia for $7.5 million.
Currently, the reserves are only in the early stages of development and are unpermitted and contain no infrastructure. According to the company, "Rhino intends to fully explore these resources with the hope of proving up a mineable underground metallurgical coal reserve and eventually commencing production."
