Restrictions asked for steel smelting units in India

The District Development Council (DDC) of Palakkad, at its meeting on June 25, urged the state government to impose restrictions on the polluting steel smelting units in Palakkad district of India. In line with the statistics, there are 36 such units functioning in the district. DDC also asked the government not to allot industrial plots to these units, which consume huge quantity of electricity.
