On November 1, Toronto, Ontario, Canada-based Royal Nickel Corporation issued the results of the pre-feasibility study for its Dumont nickel project in western Quebec, Canada.

Accordingly, the project, on average, would produce over 96 million pounds (44,000 mt) of nickel annually during its first 19 years of production. It could produce nearly 60 million pounds annually over the next 12 years.

Royal Nickel sees initially a 50,000 mt per day operation costing about $1.1 billion. By the fifth year, the operation's capacity could be doubled at an additional cost of $700 million.

Royal Nickel said the development of the project remains on schedule. It intends to obtain the necessary permits by the end of 2013 and to begin production by the end of 2015.
