UK-based plantmaker Primetals Technologies has announced that it has received the final acceptance certificate from Australian steel producer OneSteel Manufacturing Pty Ltd (OneSteel) for installed upgrades at its Laverton Wire Rod Mill.

The upgraded water cooling line and laying head are expected to increase mill utilization, to reduce maintenance and to improve product quality. With the modernization, the rolling speed for smaller diameters has increased by more than 10 percent. The overall effects of the upgrade are expected to boost the single-strand rod mill’s competitive position in the market.
