Many Chinese provincial governments have recently issued notices on electricity supply rationing for high energy-consuming enterprises, especially for the steel sector.

In response to the notices, market insiders are becoming worried about the possible impact on the production of steel mills. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, in the eastern province of Jiangsu the electricity power supply shortage is expected to exceed 11 million kilowatts this summer. Meanwhile, the Zhejiang provincial government has ordered a reduction of working hours for steel mills.
