POSCO produces 800 millionth metric ton of steel

South Korea’s largest steelmaker POSCO has announced that it has surpassed 800 million mt in cumulative production of steel over 43 years. 
 
According to the statement, the company commenced production at the thick steel 
plate plant No. 1 and after the achievement of 100 million mt of cumulative production in August 1989, POSCO leveraged its expansion of facilities and maximized production efficiency to further reach a cumulative total of 400 million mt in 2002. After reaching cumulative production of 700 million mt in 2012, the company produced an additional 100 million mt within two years and 10 months. 
 
POSCO president Jin-II Kim remarked the importance of company staff in this achievement and his expectations “to leverage the volume by driving forward with innovation and a thirst for challenge to overcome difficult situations and convert each crisis into an opportunity”.
