POSCO to help recycling of aluminum cans

According to recent news in the market, South Korean steel producer POSCO is planning to help recycle of 174'000 metric tons of aluminum cans this year with the purpose of easing steel shortage problem. The amount is more than 170'000 tons Korea recycled in 2003. Steel users in Korea are facing problems in steel supply due to high prices of imported steel fuelled by Chinese demand. Through recycling, the problems faced by steel users are aimed to be reduced. An official from POSCO stated that they will take part in the activities of government and other steel related organizations to conserve steel and aluminum. In Korea, rate of can recycling has reached to 74% levels in the recent years.
