POSCO to complete high-quality process

South Korean steel giant POSCO plans to complete its high-quality process by 2008 in order to become a global leader in steelmaking technology. Accordingly, POSCO will upgrade its existing high value-added technology development and product manufacturing roadmap. The company hopes that such a move will strengthen the production of original products and further the company's technological development. China exported over 4.1 million tons of low-cost steel products to South Korea during the first half of 2005, and the profitability of Japan's steel furnaces has greatly improved since the 1990s. Therefore, POSCO's move towards emphasizing high-quality products will greatly improve the company's competitiveness in the world market.
