POSCO starts building $240 million flat steel plant in India

South Korean steel giant POSCO announced on March 15 that it has started building a $240 million steel processing plant in India, which will produce galvanized steel sheet for the automobile and electronic sectors.

According to news sources, the plant with an annual capacity of 450,000 mt will be located in Maharashtra state and is expected to be completed in May 2012.

POSCO will also build a steel plant with an annual capacity of 12 million mt in the eastern Indian state of Orissa.
