South Korean steelmaker Posco has commissioned a wire rod processing unit in the city of Villagrán, in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, the company said this week.
While announcing the inauguration of the $44 million plant, Posco explained the unit will produce high quality wire rod products for a range of products to supply the nation’s automotive industry, including screws, nuts, and fasteners in general.
Villagrán’s wire rod processing unit will be added to Posco’s Celaya plant, which received about $25.4 million in investments. The Celaya plant is dedicated to the processing of finished steel and to the cutting of steel, and supplies the domestic appliance and automotive industries.
Mexican long steel producer Deacero is one of Posco’s clients. Other clients include Topura, Okawa, Saga Tekkosho y THK.
