PMA wants elimination of duties on SSSS

The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA), a trade association representing the $41 billion-metalforming industry in North America, urged the US International Trade Commission (ITC) to terminate the duties on stainless steel sheet and strip imported from France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Taiwan and the United Kingdom, claiming that US manufacturers are suffering from shortage of subject merchandise. On April 26, 2005, the ITC held a hearing to determine whether to terminate or continue the duties on stainless steel sheet and strip imported from eight countries. The duties were imposed as a result of an antidumping/countervailing duties investigation in 1999. PMA supports the termination of these duties with the claim that the continuation of the duties will hurt the companies that consume stainless steel.
