Peruvian iron ore output declines 14.5 percent in March

Iron ore output at Peru’s only producer, Shougang Hierro Peru, declined 14.5 percent in March, year-on-year, according to data released on Monday by the nation’s mining ministry.

According to government data, Peruvian iron ore production in March totaled 763,356 mt, 14.5 percent down, year-on-year, from the 892,665 mt produced in March 2015. When compared to February’s data, the commodity’s output rose nearly 20 percent, month-on-month, from 636,212 mt.

As for Q1, Peruvian iron ore output totaled 2 million mt, 8.3 percent down, year-on-year.
