Passenger car sales in Turkey down 26.3% in Jan-May

In the first five months this year, sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in Turkey decreased by 26.31 percent year on year to 226,698 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey decreased by 23.66 percent to 178,495 units, while sales of commercial vehicles fell by 34.71 percent to 48,203 units, both on year-on-year basis.
 
Meanwhile, in May this year domestic sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles decreased by 28.66 percent year on year and increased by 9.03 percent month on month to 58,121 units. In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country decreased by 25.65 percent year on year to 46,379 units and increased by 8.44 percent month on month, while sales of commercial vehicles fell by 38.48 percent year on year to 11,742 units and were up 11.45 percent month on month.
