Pakistan's iron and steel imports down 11.9 percent in May

Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports amounted to 217,076 mt in May this year, decreasing 2.8 percent compared to April and up 46.45 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of these imports in May was $80.29 million, increasing by 16.88 percent month on month and up 44.15 year on year.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's iron and steel imports in May amounted to 183,353 mt, decreasing by 11.92 percent on year-on-year basis and up 3.87 percent compared to the previous month. In the month in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel imports was $141.04 million, decreasing by 13.03 percent year on year and increasing by 11.29 percent month on month.
