Pakistan’s National Tariff Commission has announced its preliminary results concerning its antidumping (AD) duty investigation on imports of continuous casting billets from China.

Accordingly, on preliminary basis, the commission has established that the domestic industry suffered material injury due to the significant increase in the volume of dumped imports, the magnitude of the dumping margin, significant price undercutting by the dumped imports, significant price suppression, decline in market share, decline in sales, decline in return on investment, and negative effects on inventories, profits, and employment. However, the commission stated that the High Court of Sindh has restrained the commission from taking any coercive action in this case. Further, 15 percent regulatory duty was imposed on imports of continuous casting billets with effect from January 14, 2015; therefore, no provisional antidumping duty has been imposed on imports of the investigated product.

The products subject to the antidumping duty investigation currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7207.1110, 7207.1190, 7207.1210, 7207.1290, 7207.1910, 7207.1920, 7207.1990, 7207.2010, 7207.2020, 7207.2090, 7224.1000 and 7224.9000.
