Finland-based stainless steel producer Outokumpu announced that it has delivered 170 mt of specialty stainless steel for the construction of new modern headquarters of Qatar Foundation in Education City in Doha, Qatar. Structural sections made out of duplex stainless steel provide the required support for the 57 meter tall cube-shaped building.

Rectangular hollow sections and L-profiles supplied by the Finnish company are manufactured from duplex plate at Outokumpu Plate Service Centre in Degerfors, Sweden. Structural sections offer a wide range of opportunities for builders to take advantage of the properties of duplex stainless steel where high strength and long service life are required. Duplex stainless steel allows for considerable weight savings.

The new Qatar Foundation Headquarters building is scheduled for completion in mid-2013.
